We hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend. Here's a short and sweet read for your first day back in the office!
Facebook is carrying out a small test in the USA of a potential new feature called “things in common” where users will receive notices about various things they have in common with people they are not friends with on the platform. The information will show up in a small label above people’s names in the comments sections. For example, you may be from the same town or have gone to the same school. Facebook will only share publicly available information. The new feature is designed to help more people connect on the platform. You can read more here.
Last week, Instagram announced on its blog that it was testing “recommended posts” in the feed. Recommended posts will show up at the bottom of your feed after you have viewed all posts by people you follow and are based on who you follow and what videos and photos you have previously liked. Instagram say its goal is to “make your feed the best place to share and connect” and recommended posts will allow you to view posts by more of the Instagram community. You can read their blog post here.
